IMG Media, a division of IMG Worldwide, the global sports, fashion and media company, has completed a deal in Vietnam with Canal+ for live coverage of the Barclays Premier League for the next three years.

IMG Media – having secured the territory from the Premier League – has licensed the rights to enable Canal+ access to all 380 games from the English top flight for the 2013/14, 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons.

IMG split the broadcast offering into three packages with Canal+ successful in their bids for the top two packages.

Canal+ secured the rights for a number of exclusive matches including all Sunday matches and all 32 Saturday games kicking off at 12.45. Where there is no 12.45 kick off, they will have the first pick of the matches on that Saturday (five games). They will also have exclusive first pick for mid-week matches.

In addition, Canal+ will have non-exclusive rights to all other Saturday, Monday and midweek matches and access to the Premier League supplementary programming such as the Preview and Review shows, Premier League World and the 24/7 Premier League Content service, all produced by IMG Sports Media.

Chris Guinness, SVP Head of IMG Media, Asia Pacific for IMG, said: “This was a very competitive process with a variety of interesting offers from broadcasters for the top two packages and we are delighted that Canal+ will continue to have live coverage of the Barclays Premier League.”

“We will continue discussions with all of the other Vietnamese broadcasters regarding the remaining package consisting of over 250 matches per season including non-exclusive Saturday matches (excluding the early kick off), Monday matches and selected mid-week matches, and work towards concluding deals to ensure that they can still continue to show the Premier League to their viewers.”
