IMG, a global leader in sports, fashion and media, has secured a new three-year deal with the Premier League for in-flight and in-ship rights from the 2016/17-2018/19 seasons, which includes live coverage of matches on IMG-owned and operated Sport 24, the only 24/7 live sports channel exclusive to the inflight industry.
The world’s leading national league will be shown on aircraft all over the world and Sport 24 will broadcast live and recorded matches, as well as feature programming on the channel which is currently available on over 250 aircraft on airlines including Emirates, Etihad, Lufthansa, Qatar and Turkish Airlines.
Richard Wise, Senior Vice President, IMG Media, said: “We have a long-standing relationship with the Premier League and are delighted to have extended our partnership to show live action on planes and on cruise ships for another three years.
“The Premier League is the most-watched football league in the world and is very popular with air travellers across the globe. Sport 24 is committed to showing the best action live and this is a key element to an outstanding portfolio of live sport.”
Premier League Executive Chairman, Richard Scudamore, said: “IMG has for several years done an excellent job making Premier League content available to travellers around the world through the official aeroplanes and ships agreement.
“We are very pleased they have again chosen to invest in these rights and look forward to continuing our work with them.”
Sport 24, which launched in March 2012, is also showing live coverage from this year’s Rugby World Cup, the Bundesliga, Formula 1™, Grand Slam tennis and golf Majors, as well as the ATP 1000 events and Finals, and the NFL.
